04/01/2015 Complaint Download Complaint filed. The Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) filed a lawsuit against EPA to compel production of correspondence between EPA and four federal legislators concerning inquiries that the legislators had made regarding funding for climate research. CEI submitted its Freedom of Information Act requests to EPA in late February and early March 2015. The legislators whose correspondence is the subject of the requests are three senators who had sent letters to fossil fuel companies and trade associations seeking information about their funding of climate research and advocacy and a congressman who asked universities to provide information about climate researchers they employed.
