Filing Date Type File Action Taken Summary
02/21/2012 Petition for Review Petition for review filed. Several oil and natural gas industry groups filed a lawsuit in the D.C. Circuit challenging an EPA rule issued in December 2011 requiring petroleum and gas drilling operations to report 2011 greenhouse gas emissions from wells and storage tanks on a county level and by geologic formation. Among other things, the groups allege that the revisions to EPA’s mandatory emissions reporting rule were not subject to a notice-and-comment period before they were finalized. The reporting rule requires old and natural gas systems that emit at least 25,000 metric tons per year of carbon dioxide-equivalent to collect data on their emissions, with 2011 emissions due to EPA by March 31, 2012.
